(OOC) Sale of An Industrialist: Part 1

I began this second account for my fiance. When that relationship ended I offered her the account for the rest of the term I paid for. When she became less than communicative and told me she was losing her internet access that she had with her new beau, I took control of the account. Apparently she never lost her service but she never asked for it back, which leads me to assume she didn’t care about it in the first place.

I’ve been trying to get into this whole industrial thing, but it’s just not for me. I’m having enough of a time learning aspects of combat. There’s also the matter of money, which I have little of. So I’m selling her off.

The account expires on January 20th at 2255h EST. She’s only a year old and at the time of this writing only has about 14m skill points. I doubt I’ll get more than a few dozen million isk for her but it’s something. Most of the characters for sale have closer to 25-50m SP points, and they’re asking for billions.

First I checked out the rules CCP laid out on the official board, which read:

  1. The ‘For Sale/Auction’ post must be made by the character being offered. This is being added to prevent scams for characters that have been misrepresented, banned, non-existent, etc.
  2. You must disclose whether or not the character being sold has a negative balance in its wallet and the amount.
  3. The character being sold must receive the ISK for the purchase.
  4. The sell post must reflect the character correctly, posting that the character you’re selling has more skillpoints or ISK than it actually has is a bannable offence.
  5. The character being sold must be stripped of ingame assets of any significant value before being transferred. Items cannot be listed among the character’s valuable assets, only skills, implants and reputation. You are buying/selling the character ONLY and nothing else. Ships and items can be readily bought on the market for ISK.
  6. You may only bump threads ONCE Per day. Date is determined by the date on the forum, not the date where you live.
  7. The new owner of the character may NOT pass himself off as the original owner.
  8. The character for sale must be from an active account, you cannot trade characters from inactive accounts.
  9. The character being sold must be in an NPC corporation.
  10. The character being sold must be older than 14 days old to avoid accidental transfers.
  11. The selling of accounts is prohibited, characters may only be sold individually.
  12. The owner of the character being sold is responsible for the character transfer fee paid to CCP.
  13. Prior to leaving a corporation, the character to be sold MUST send a corp-wide EVE mail stating that they are going to be sold and will be leaving for an NPC corporation.
  14. When a character is sold, please modify the topic title to reflect this to help other forum patrons know what characters are still available.
  15. *NEW* Lottery style sales are not permitted. Auctions and buyouts are the appropriate method for selling a character.
  16. All scams involving character transfers are prohibited.

I also came across a good guide to selling characters.

It all seems pretty simple. After the account payment expires I’ll post it in the forum and hope for the best. Take a look at her character sheet and tell me how much you think I should ask for her. If you have any experience selling characters, let me know. I could use a brain to pick on this.

  1. You should get her Hulk-ready and work on a freighter, that should make her a lot more wanted. You could also offer to train her in the way the buyer would like. Those learning skills are great though! Oh, and I might be interested in buying her, though I do need to have a better look at her skills once I get home.

  2. The Hulk and freighter suggestions will be implemented as soon as I can. Not sure I have enough time left on the account to modify her in any important way should I find a buyer now, but I’ll do my best.

Thank you! I’ll be posting a link to the bidding here when it’s up.
